2008 Tour of Remodeled Homes

Project Overview:
Whole house renovation and 400 sq. ft. addition to vintage 1950's Lake style daylight ranch.   Complete interior renovation with new kitchen, family room, master suite, two main bathrooms. Exterior facelift includes 2,000 sq. ft. deck and boat house.

Description:
This 1950s daylight ranch meets European contemporary.   Our project started as a 3,000-square foot, cramped daylight ranch with a fabulous view and Oswego Lake frontage.   It featured small cramped rooms, small windows a tiny kitchen, darkly paneled basement and outdated bathrooms.   None of the areas were originally designed to take advantage of the beautiful yard and lake views.   Poor yard access and a dilapidated boat house completed our starting point.

Process:
The house was gutted to the studs, removing and reorienting all of the interior walls to allow lake views from almost every space in the home.   400-square feet were added at the rear of the home to create the large, open floor plan.   As a result, almost 2,000 square feet of deck now extend from the lower floor out toward the lake.   A new boathouse and dock at water's edge were constructed while the lake was lowered last year.

Sleek European kitchen cabinets with stainless countertops, vertical grain walnut doors and bathroom cabinets and counters are set against the backdrop of 3'x3' square heated slate flooring throughout the home.   New energy efficient Marvin® windows were installed throughout the home.   Ten pairs of fully lit wood and glass doors line the lake side of the home, giving each room an unobstructed view of the lake.   Metal cable railings on the upper decks and lower dock continue the contemporary feel outside.   The sleek design of the railing complements the contemporary design of the home and provides safety without blocking the view.   Clean lined, European plumbing and electrical fixtures and our client's furnishings set against the slate floors and walls complete this beautiful home.
