MID-CENTURY ENTERTAINER’S DREAM (2016 TOUR OF REMODELED HOMES)
This 1954 home sits above Oswego Lake with stunning mountain and water views. Our clients came to Metke Remodeling & Luxury Homes desiring to fix a deteriorating deck, capture hindered views, while also creating a new modern kitchen, functional home office and updated master suite. Metke’s design team along with Endpoint Design created the vision. The kitchen was expanded a mere 123 SF and re-oriented to capture the views.
The home’s mid-century vibe was enhanced with modern bamboo cabinetry, granite & quartz slab countertops, and a full-height mosaic back splash. A beverage area is complete with wine fridge, coffee niche and unique cabinetry paying homage to the home’s mid-century vibe. Soaring gable roof lines lead to a new 600 SF covered deck, built using Trex Escapes steel framing, and composite surface.
Outdoor entertaining, from cooking, lounging, watching football, to tubbing, are all possible with a full outdoor kitchen, sunken hot tub, overhead heaters, and fire table focused on the panoramic views of the lake below. Following the new roof lines, the office grew not only in size, but more importantly, volume. Bamboo cabinetry carries into the office and paired with charcoal details provides a masculine feel to the room.
A fully renovated master suite on the main floor, features a stunning master bath with walnut cabinetry, slab counters and wall-to-wall mirrors; A unique double vessel sink provides a bit of flair, and the walk in tile shower is a luxury on its own -multiple shower heads, recessed niches and a dry-off area. A cramped, 7’ basement ceiling was raised to 8’3” by lowering a faulty concrete floor slab. Fully renovated with repurposed doors leading to the extensively re-landscaped yard.
The end result is a fully-functional home – inside and out – while enhancing the mid-century architectural details and maximizing the beautiful views beyond.
