We have exciting news! Metke Remodeling will be sponsoring a sculpture titled BREAKTIME for the Gallery without Walls Program.
The GWW public art program distinguishes Lake Oswego by bringing creativity, imagination, and color into our public spaces. It offers an enriched visual environment for the community members and visitors alike by creating a unique sense of place, encouraging conversation, and connecting people of all ages. The sculpture was created by Anthony Teixeira, a San Jose-based Artist and Fabricator working mostly in cast and fabricated metals.
He uses familiar objects to tell stories and invoke personal reflection. Like a visual poem, each viewer will relate and respond to the artwork using their own experiences for interpretation. It is through these interpretations that conversation begins. According to the artist, “Breaktime is about perseverance. Despite the broken handle of the hammer, the title suggests that the break is only a temporary obstacle to be overcome.”
Made entirely out of aluminum and steel, the handle was cast from a real wooden piece. Once you see this sculpture it will be evident why we chose to sponsor this piece. If you have time please see the sculpture at Evergreen Road between 3rd and 4th Street or join any of the tours offered by GWW throughout the year. Metke Remodeling and Luxury Homes is honored to be part of such a great program.
