Oregon Home Magazine "Lakeside Revision" feature

Image of a remodeled family roomMetke Remodeling was recently featured in Oregon Home Magazine, which took a closer look at our “Lakeside Revision” project as well as an overview of our design-build process. We take great pride in giving our clients exactly what they want.

In this case, our clients needed to change the feel of their entire home. Dark, dated, and not taking full advantage of the lake views, we were tasked with giving them a beautiful entertaining space as well as making the home more usable in the process.

The interior of the home and the materials were all very good quality. But after living in the home for a year, our clients realized it just wasn’t a good fit for them. This was a huge three-floor remodel. No surface was untouched, we brightened the color palette throughout and changed the floor plan in many areas of the home.

The most impactful remodel happened in the basement. The sunken living room above took away valuable overhead space. We raised the living room floor to create 8-foot ceilings in the basement. Allowing the space to feel less cramped, gives them great views out onto the lake, and essentially gave the homeowners a brand new entertainment area.

This project is also a great example of our thoughtful approach to a whole home redesign. We mentioned that while the cabinets were dark and felt too bulky for the clients, they were in excellent shape and well-constructed. Instead of tearing everything down and starting from scratch, we were able to reuse the boxes and still provide an entirely new look.

Design-Build Remodeling Experts

Remodeled Master BedroomThe Lakeside Revision is the perfect example of how a design-build construction firm can be so beneficial for homeowners. In the construction industry, it’s not uncommon for a design firm and a construction team to be different companies that work separately in the remodel or build project. This can cause potential disconnects between the intended design and the final product. However, when both sides of a remodel are present from start to finish, the project comes together seamlessly.

Our experienced design professionals work hand-in-hand with the construction crew to make sure what they design fits with the structure and budget. Not only does this cut down on miscommunication, but also provides cost and time-saving solutions. The kitchen cabinets of the Lakeside Renovation are a perfect example of how the two sides of the coin can come together to serve the best interests of the homeowner.
