CHARBONNEAU KITCHEN & LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER
This lovely home in the Charbonneau community needed updating and reconfiguring. The kitchen was too small and the living spaces were too dark and secluded. To fix this problem we removed the wall in the kitchen to open the space to the living area, giving the kitchen more working and entertaining space. The existing oak cabinets were painted and a large island with plenty of seating and storage was built. The laundry room was enlarged and pantry shelving added. For the backsplash, the client chose a classic subway tile with a dark grout to add a little drama. The space was grounded with beautiful dark engineered hardwood that continues throughout the entire lower level public spaces.
In the living room, the step was removed and a skylight added to provide more natural light. The fireplace was given new life with a contemporary hearth and mantle. Hardwood was used for the stairs as well as a new handrail and metal balusters. On the upper level, we opened up the hallway to create an open catwalk, which allowed more natural light to come into the living room and created a much more open feel.
